Kuttalam

'Spa of the South'

Kuttalam (earlier spelt Courtallam) is located on the Western Ghats in Tirunelveli District and is famous for its waterfalls.

Kuttalam has eight waterfalls where water pours down torrentially with varying velocity and force according to the height of the precipice. The eight waterfalls are Main Falls, Five Falls, Shenbhaga Falls, Tiger Falls, old Kuttalam Falls, Honey Falls, Orchard falls and Sitraruvi Falls. The water of these falls is believed to possess medicinal qualities of the herbal plants grown in the mountains. It is also said that those having rheumatic joints, chronic headache and nerve disorder get cured by a lengthy stay at Kuttalam.

The Kurumpalanathar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is an important shrine at Kuttalam.

Kuttalam is 58 km by road from Tirunelveli and is 6 km from Tenkasi Junction Railway Station.
