Shevarayan Perumal Kovil




Perched at 1,624 m above sea level, Shevarayan Perumal Kovil is on Shevaroys Hills in the Dharmapuri District of Tamil Nadu. The temple is located inside a natural stone cave.

The presiding deity is Ramar (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu) with his consort Cauvery Amman.

The view from outside the temple is panoramic and the Shevaroy Hills are clearly visible. On the southern-most edge of the temple is the Cauvery Peak from where one can have a magnificent view of the Mettur Dam and the Cauvery River.

The temple festival is a very colorful event held annually in the month of May. Accommodation facilities are available at Yercaud.

The temple can be accessed from Yercaud. Bangalore International Airport is the nearest airport and Salem Junction Railway Station is the nearest major railhead.
