Rameswaram Railway Station




Located 3 km away from the town center, Rameswaram Railway Station is a major railhead of the Southern Railways. (Rameswaram is also spelt Rameshwaram.) It is the terminus of the meter gauge line. Frequent train services to the cities of Madurai, Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli and Thanjavur are offered. Sethu Express and Rameswaram Express are the two express trains that connect Rameshwaram with Chennai. There is a tourist information cell on the premises to cater to the needs of travelers.

Annai Indira Gandhi Bridge ( Pamban Bridge), an important landmark, connects Rameshwaram with the mainland by rail.

Accommodation is offered in Hotel Tamil Nadu (close to the railway station), run by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation. The Central Bus Station is located 2 km west of the city. Buses are available to get around places in Rameshwaram. The major town close to Rameshwaram is Madurai (167 km.) Nearest airport is the Madurai Airport.
