Established in 1958, Marine Biology Museum is a famous marine museum functioning under the Annamalai University. Situated at Porto Novo (also known as Parangipettai), the museum houses a wide range of authentically identified specimens of sea weeds, sea grasses, invertebrates, sponges, corals, crustaceans, molluscs, echinoderms, vertebrates, elasmobranchs, teleosts, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The museum is open for public from 10:00 to 17:00 hrs on all working days.
Porto Novo is located 30 km south of Cuddalore. Tamil Nadu State Transport Co-orporation buses are available to Porto Novo from nearby towns.
