Ponneri is a town located in Tiruvallur District. It is about 35 km from the main Chennai city limits. The main attractions here are the Adikesava Perumal temple and Vinayagar temple. There is a Shiva temple at about 17 km south-west of Ponneri. Lake Pulicat is a large backwater lake near Ponneri. One can access the lake from Ponneri Railway Station.
