About 20 km east of Polur is the remote town of Devikapuram, the site of Periyanayaki Amman Temple. Some 20 km off Polur is the Parvathamalai with a temple of Lord Shiva on its top.
The town is about 193 km from Chennai. The nearest airport is at Chennai and Polur Railway Station is on the Thiruvannamalai-Vellore rail route.
