Uttukuli (also spelt Uthukuli) lies in Erode District, Tamil Nadu. Sprawling over an area of about six sq km, the place is a famous pilgrim spot in the district. Also, Uttukuli is famous for butter. Uttukuli is surrounded by Modakkurichi in the south-west, Pasur in the south-east, Surampatti in the north-west and Kumarapalayam in the north-east. Situated on the banks of Cauvery River, Uttukuli is about 24 km from Sivanmalai, 19 km from Chennimalai, 125 from Palani, 90 km from Maruthamalai and 36 km from Thindal. The prominent attraction is Kaithamalai Sri Vetri Velayudhaswami Temple dedicated to Lord Muruga. Nearby tourist spots include Chennimalai, Pushpavaneeswarar Temple, Mettur Dam and Bhavani. The nearest airport is C A Coimbatore Airport. Uttukuli Railway Station serves the town. Erode Junction Railway Station is the nearest major railhead, 38 km north-west of Uttukuli.
