Bhuminathaswamy Temple




Bhuminathaswamy Temple is situated at Tiruchuli, on the southern bank of the Gundar. It is a Shiva temple with the deities as Bhuminathar, and Thunaimalai Amman. The temple has high boundary walls, which were constructed by Muthuramalinga Setupati during his reign.

It is also said that Swami Vivekananda had stayed at this temple for three days when the Gundar was flooded during one of his journeys.

The place can be reached from Virudhunagar by traveling 40 km towards the east or 45 km towards the south from Madurai.
