Kangeyam




Kangeyam, also spelt Kangayam, is a taluk headquarters town in Erode District, Tamil Nadu. It is sprawls over an area of about 22 sq km. Kangeyam is situated about 18 km north-west of Vellakkovil, 31 km east of Palladam, 18 km south of Chennimalai and 31 km north of Dharapuram. Sivanmalai (Sivanmalai Andavar Temple) and Vattamalai are only five km from the town. Arachalur and Chennimalai Temple are nearby tourist spots. Kangeyam is known for bulls, dairy development and oil mills. This town is also a major coconut trading center in Tamil Nadu. C A Coimbatore Airport at Coimbatore (66 km) is the nearest airport. Kangeyam is easily accessible from Karur, Palladam and Tirupur (27 km) by road. National Highway 67 passes through Kangeyam.
