Omampuliyur




Omampuliyur village lies on the northern bank of Kollidam River (Uttara Cauvery) in Cuddalore District. It is about 32 km from Chidambaram and is 7 km south of Kattumannarkoil. The place is famous for the Gurumurthy Temple.

Legend has it that, Goddess Pushpathalambigai prayed Lord Shiva to teach her Pranava Mantram. It is said that Shiva assumed the form of Lord Dakshinamurthy and revealed the Pranava Mantram to her here.

Omampuliyur is well connected by bus service with Chennai, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam and Thanjavur.
