Kayaroganaswami Temple is located in Nagapattinam District. This is one of the 51 Shakthipithams, and the presiding deity is Lord Shiva called Sundara Vidangar performing the dance of ocean waves, Paaraavaara Tharanga Natanam. There is a separate shrine for Panchamukha Vinayaka, the five-faced Lord Ganesh, facing west. This bronze image is seated on a lion. Other shrines in the temple premises are those of Moolavar and Ambal. The temple inscriptions are an important document of Dutch rule in the region. The temple also holds the images of Nagabharana Vinayakar and Maavadi Vinayakar. The Deva Teertham and Pundarika Teertham are the sacred pools of this temple.
