Thalavanur is located 16 km from Gingee in
Viluppuram District. The place is famous for the Shatru Malleswaralayam rock-cut temple. The temple was constructed by the Pallava King Mahendra Varman (5th-6th century). Tamil and Sanskrit inscriptions and sculptures are found here.
