Kamadeva, the God of Love



Lord Kama is the god of love in Hindu mythology, also known by the name Manmadha. According to ancient Hindu texts like Atharva Veda, Kamadeva or Lord Kama is foremost among Gods representing all that is good.

Lord Kama is worshipped for victory over one’s enemies. Some Hindu scriptures regard him as the son of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi in their incarnations as Krishna and Rukmini respectively. Some texts refer to Lord Kama as the son of Brahma, the creator of the Universe. Lord Kama has been portrayed as a charmer. He is physically handsome and always ready to spread the message of love and joy.
