Devikapuram




Devikapuram is situated in Thiruvannamalai District of Tamil Nadu and is 20 km east of Polur. It is an important Hindu religious center in the district.

Devikapuram is noted for its magnificent temples, which were constructed during the reign of the Chola King Thondaiman Chakravarthi. The Periyanayaki Amman Temple is the major attraction of the town. The long corridor and three enclosures of the temple are unique with its highly skilled sculptures. Another shrine nearby is the Kanakagireeswarar Temple on Ponnmalai hill, which is believed to be of the Pallava period.

Thiruvannamalai is 40 km south-west. Nearest railway station is the Polur Railway Station and the nearest airport is Chennai International Airport.
