Kollimalai Arappaleeswarar Temple




Kollimalai Arappaleeswarar Temple, situated at Kollimalai hills near Salem, is an ancient temple which dates back to the period of Appar. The temple is also associated with Matsya Muni believed to be a siddha. The streams near the temple are home to numerous fish. A three day annual festival celebrated in the month of aadi attracts several devotees. This temple has a collection of several fine bronzes and an exquisite chariot.

Salem is the nearby major city. The nearest airport is at Tiruchirapalli (Trichy), 140 km away. Salem is well connected by rail to all the major cities and towns in south India. Taxis and auto-rickshaws are available from Salem to Kollimalai.
