Dindigul

Dindigul is the headquarters of Dindigul District. It is famous as a wholesale market for onion and groundnut.

The Palani Hills begin just to the west of Dindigul. National Road 45 passes through Dindigul and connects the city with Madurai, about 60 km to the south, and Tiruchchirappalli (Trichy) about 100 km northeast. It received its railway station in 1875 when the line between Trichy and Tuticorin was constructed.
