Kazhugumalai is a small village about 22 km from Kovilpatti, between Sankaran koil and
Kovilpatti near
Tirunelveli in south
Tamil Nadu. This place houses the famous
Kazhugachalamurthy Temple. Kazhugumalai became famous by the
Thirupugazh hymns of
Arunagirinathar. Kazhugumalai is also known as Then Palani (South Palani). Other names given to this place are Sampathi Kshetram, Gajamuga Parvatham, Kazhugachalam, Uvanagiri.
