Subramanya Shashti



Skanda Shashti is a renowned festival associated with Subramanya or Kartikeya, observed especially in south India. It is celebrated in the Tulam month (October-November). According myth, Skanda Shashti celebrates the day when a great demon called Taraka was defeated. Devotees believe that one can ensure prosperity and happiness by worshipping Lord Kartikeya on this auspicious day. There are six temples in south India dedicated to Lord Kartikeya.
