Kailashanathar Temple, built during the Pallava period, is an ancient shrine located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. The architecture and design of the temple indicates it to be among the temples of 8th century.
This beautiful temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Its structure is filled with all the 64 aspects of the god. There are 58 small shrines around the main temple. All are rich in the carvings of Pallava art. Among the carvings, the most interesting one are the Urdhva Tandava dance of Shiva and the laughing face of Goddess Parvati. Fresco paintings are seen in the inner walls of the main temple.
