Kalpakkam




Kalpakkam is situated about 80 km south of Chennai. It is a 3 hour journey by state transport bus and 2 hour by taxi.

During the installation of the Reactor Research Center and Madras Atomic Power Project at Kalpakkam in 1969, the Department of Atomic Energy constructed the township for its employees.

The township features an Atomic Energy School. The old fort at Sadras is a major attraction outside Kalpakkam.

Nearest airport: Chennai International Airport. Chengalpattu Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
