Kadambar Temple




Kadambar Temple is located at Kulithalai, Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the nine Shivasthalams in the Thanjavur area. The temple is maintained by Madurai Adhinam. The temple is also known by the names Palaasavanam, Brahmapuri and Agnistalam. Belief is that Agni worshipped Lord Shiva at this place. It has a five tiered Rajagopuram at the entrance and several stone inscriptions of Natarajar and Sivakami. Inscriptions from the Chola and Vijayanagar periods are also there. The main festival is the Haradatta Sivacharyar in the Tamil month of Thai each year. Other festivals are Mahashivratri, Arudra Darisanam, Navratri and Aadi Pooram.
