Periyakulam




Periyakulam is located in Theni District and is around 16 km north of Theni.

The town is famous for mangoes and is second to Salem in the state in the harvest of mangoes. Previously the town was called ‘Kuzhanthai Maanagaram. The main attraction is Arulmigu Balasubramanya Temple, dating back to Chola period. Kumbakkarai Falls is 8 km from Periyakulam and Sothupparai Dam is 12 km away.

Nearest airport is Madurai Airport and the nearest railway station is at Theni.
