Annamalai University is located at
Annamalai Nagar, which lies east of
Chidambaram.
This State University is a unitary, teaching and residential university with about 48 departments. Courses are offered in science, Indian languages, engineering and technology, education, fine arts, agriculture, medicine and dentistry. Research projects are also undertaken.
The Directorate of Distance Education offers about 154 programs of study. The Open University system also offers various programs.
