Kanchipuram Natarajan Annadurai




Kanchipuram Natarajan Annadurai(15 Sept 1909 - 3 Feb 1969) was the 16th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Being a statesman, a scholar, a social reformer, a mass leader and a friend of poor, he was adorably called Arignar Anna. He was born at Kanchipuram in a middle class family. Anna was a follower of Periyar and joined the Justice Party. After leaving Periyar in 1949, he formed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Party. He became the Opposition Leader in the State Assembly, in 1957. He was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 1967. He had contributed a lot to Tamil Literature.

Aringnjar Anna Zoological Park is a famous park named in honor of this great leader.
