Ghatam

A musical instrument

Ghatam, a clay pot, is a percussion instrument used commonly in Carnatic classical music. Unlike the ordinary mud pot, it has a narrow mouth. Iron-filings and baked clay are used for making the instrument. Both the hands, all the fingers – including nails- and wrists are used in playing the Ghatam.
