Arulmigu Marundeeshwarar Temple




Marundeeshwarar Temple is an ancient temple located at Thiruvanmiyur which is to the southern part of the capital city Chennai. The presiding deity of the temple is Shri Marundeeshwarar (Lord of medicines). This Swayambhu Lingam is about 2 ft tall. Other shrines of the temple are dedicated to Tripurasundari, Durga, Vinayaka, and Subramanya with his consorts Valli and Devayani.

The temple has inscriptions of the Chola period. Lord Ram is said to have visited this place on his way to Lanka.

The main festival of the temple is the annual Brahmotsavam celebrated in March–April. The festival includes the Rathotsavam, Vannimara seva, and Teppotsavam.
