Chembarambakka



Chembarambakka is a village situated 21 km west of Chennai in Tiruvallur District. The word Chembarambakkam means a beautiful hill village and the Adyar River originates from here.

In the south-eastern corner of the village there is a dilapidated Shiva Temple which has inscriptions of the Chola period. The temple has a huge Shivlinga, which is also in ruined condition. The village also holds temples dedicated to Vishnu, Mariamman and Pooniamman.

The village is on the National Highway 4 and the nearest town, Poonamallee, is just 5 km away. Pattabiram Railway Station, 11 km away, is the nearest railhead.
