Krishnagiri is the headquarters of Krishnagiri District in Tamil Nadu. The name ‘Krishnagiri’ is derived from two words, 'Krishna' meaning black and ‘Giri’ meaning hill. It is situated 91 km from Bangalore, 112 km from Salem and 270 km from Madurai. Krishnagiri Dam is the major attraction.

Nearest railway station is Dharmapuri Railway Station and nearest airport is Bangalore International Airport. The major bus station is Krishnagiri Bus Station.
