Aluthakanniar River

Aluthakanniar is a major tributary of the Chittar. It originates from the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats and flows 10km towards north east before sinking in to the main river (Chittar) near the Kadapagothi village of Tenkasi taluk. It also occupies an important part in the irrigation map of the state, as evident from the eight dams that are built across it.
