Phensong Monastery



Built during the time of Jigme Pawo, Phensong Monastery is situated at Phodong in North Sikkim District. It belongs to the Nyingmapa order of Tibetan Buddhism. Situated on a gentle slope stretching from Kabi to Phodong, the monastery has around 300 monks.

The annual festival of Chamm (monk dance) is performed on the 28th and 29th days of the tenth month of the Tibetan Calendar, which normally corresponds to the month of December.
