Namchi Monastery is located in Namchi
, the district headquarters of South Sikkim District
. The monastery is situated near the town and was built by Tensung Namgyal, during the regime of Chogya Gurmed Namgyal. In the monastery, there is a fine sculpture of Padmasambhava, seated on a lotus. There is also a peculiar wall painting of
, with three eyes, wearing tantric ornaments and standing naked, in a dancing posture.
