New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station, famous as North Bengal's largest railway junction, is located about 4 km from Jalpaiguri. It is a railhead under the administrative control of North East Frontier Railways. The main train services from Jalpaiguri are Darjeeling Mail, Kamrup Express, Kanchenjunga Express, Brahmaputra Mail, Thiruvananthapuram Express, Brahmaputra Mail, North East Express, Avadh Assam Express and Guwahati Express. The station has a computerized reservation facility.

The rail route that links New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling (the legendary British hill station) is served by the world famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railways.
