Chungthang

Chungthang, a small town surrounded by high mountains, is situated on the confluence of the Lachen and Lachung Chu and the starting point of River Teesta. It is predominantly a Lepcha region. There is a rock on which Guru Padmasambhava rested and the imprint on it is said to be his footmark.

It is believed that the place is blessed by Guru Rimpoche. Chungthang is rich in bio-diversity with a large variety of orchids, plants and wildlife.
