Sukh Mahal

Sukh Mahal is a magnificent palace situated on the Sukh Mahal Lake in Bundi, Rajasthan. It is the place where Rudiyard Kipling once stayed. The palace is now an irrigation rest house.

The doors of the palace are inlaid with ivory and sandal wood. The marble rooms are cooled by water perforations in the centre of the wall. It is believed that an underground tunnel runs from the Sukh Mahal to the old palace.

A beautiful garden, called Sar Bagh, is situated close to this palace. It houses 66 royal cenotaphs, which are noted for cream-coloured marble friezes.
