Ranthambhore Fort

Ranthambhore Fort, built in 944 AD by a Chauhan ruler, was one of the strongest forts of Northern India. Situated on the border of Rajasthan and erstwhile Malwa, the fort had many buildings inside of which only a few have survived the ravages of wars and time. Now, the fort has massive ramparts, gates, bastions, two pavilions, Badal Mahal, Hammirs court and parts of the royal palace. Two rain fed reservoirs and an old temple dedicated to Lord Ganesh are also present inside the fort. From the fort, one can have a panoramic view of Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve and dense forest dotted with ruined chhatris and hideouts.
