Lohaghat




Located 14 km from Champawat, Lohaghat is a small town with historical and mythological importance. Perched at an elevation of 5,597 ft above the sea level, the town spreads over an area of 4.5 sq km on the bank of river Lohawati. During summer, Lohaghat is filled with the beauty and smell of burans flowers. Kumaoni, Hindi and English are the main languages spoken by the people. Lohaghat is well connected by state highway. Jeeps, taxis and ponies are available for transportation. The nearest railhead is at Tanakpur, approximately 90 km away. Naini Saini Airport is the nearest airport. Vanasur-Ka-Kila (7 km), Abbot Mount (8 km) and Mayawati Ashram (9 km) are nearby tourist spots.
