Khatu




Khatu, formerly known as Shatkup (six wells), is a place of great archeological importance. It is located in the Nagaur District of Rajasthan. Old Khatu has been almost destroyed. Now, Khatu comprises two villages named Bari Khatu and Chhoti Khatu. The village of Chhoti Khatu has an old stepwell named Phool Bawadi and a small fort which was built by Prathviraj Chouhan. It is believed that this stepwell was constructed in Gurjara Pratihara period.
