Jaisalmer District is situated in the western part of
. It is surrounded by Pakistan in the north and west, Barmer
in the south, Jodhpur
in the east, and Bikaner
in the north-east. It has a total area of 38,401 sq km. Most part of Jaisalmer lies in Thar Desert
