Jalore Fort

Jalore Fort, one of the famous forts in India, is situated in Jalore, Rajasthan. Built in 10th century by the Parmaras, the fort stands majestically on top of a perpendicular hill.

This majestic and impressive structure can be entered through four huge gates, which are accessible only from one side, after a two-mile long circuitous ascent. The fort is built in the traditional Hindu architecture and there are four Vaishnava temples and five Jain temples in the fort.

The fort also houses palaces, which are simple and without any superfluous embellishment.

Near the main gate of the fort there is a mosque and the tomb of Malik Shah, a noted Mohammedan saint.
