Jodhpur



Jodhpur, the headquarters of Jodhpur District is the second largest city in Rajasthan. Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha it was once the capital of the medieval Marwar state. The city, with 8 gates and innumerable bastions, is surrounded by a high wall 10 km long.

Jodhpur has magnificent marble palaces, havelis, and sand dunes. Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum, Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Girdikot and Sardar market, and numerous other monuments, temples, and gardens add to Jodhpur's splendor.

Jodhpur city is well-accessible by road, rail and air.
