Bharatpur Government Museum




Bharatpur Government Museum is situated at the center of the famous Lohagarh Fort in Bharatpur. It has a rich collection of archeological wealth of the nearby areas and the old Bharatpur State. The museum exhibits sculptures found during the excavation of old villages, ranging from 1st century AD (Kushan period) to 19th century AD. Its art gallery consists of specimens of miniature paintings on the leaves of peepal tree, mica and old litho papers along with the paintings of the Maharajas of Bharatpur. The upper storey section consists of various types of guns and miniature canons used during 18th century AD called 'Chaddra.' The museum also exhibits stone sculptures, coins, armory, zoological specimens, textiles, photographs, natural history specimens and manuscripts. Bharatpur Government Museum functions daily from 10:00 to 16:30 hrs, except on Fridays and public holidays.
