Nawan Shehar District




Nawan Shehar District in Punjab was formed by splitting Hoshiarpur District. It is bounded by the districts of Hoshiarpur in the north, Kapurthala in the north-west, Jalandhar in the west, and Rupnagar in the south-east. Nawan Shehar also borders the state of Himachal Pradesh. The district, with its headquarters at Nawan Shehar, spans an area of 1,258 sq km and has a population of more than half a million. It receives maximum rainfall in the state with an average of 1000 mm.
