Jind




Jind, the seat of administration of Jind District in Haryana, is a historic town situated 123 km north-west of Delhi. It is a prominent grain market in the district.

Legends say that the town developed around the Jainti Devi temple built by the Pandavas, and hence was named Jaintapuri. Jind is the corruption of Jaintapuri.

Places of tourist interest in and around the town include Pindara, Ramrai, Asvini Kumara Teertha (14 km), Varaha, Munjavata and Dhamtan Sahib.

The nearest airport is at New Delhi. Jind Junction Railway Station is a prominent railhead of Haryana. National Highway 71 passes through Jind. By road, Jind is linked with Delhi, Patiala, Chandigarh, Rohtak, Panipat and Kaithal.
