Kurali

Kurali is an ancient town located just on the Rupnagar-Chandigarh road, about 16 km from Rupnagar, in Punjab. It was once known as Kanwarwali after Kanwar Pal, grand son of Rana Asra, who migrated from Bijapur near Chittorgarh (Rajasthan). The place is mainly inhabited by Rathor (Dhaia) Rajputs who have three Pattis (localities) namely Shahpur Patti, Akbarpur Patti and Fatepur Patti.

Kurali is famous for the Gosaiaanwala Dera, believed to be 300 years old. There is a Samadhi of the Gosain who founded the Dera. A big fair held here on 24th August every year draws thousands of people from far and near.
