Rupnagar District




Rupnagar District of Punjab was formerly known as Ropar town. Rupnagar adjoins the districts of Una in Himachal Pradesh, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Patiala.

The Sutlej river passes close to the towns of Nangal, Rupnagar and Anandpur Sahib. Generally dry, the climate is hot summer and bracing cold winter. The period from mid November to February is cold season. This is followed by the summer season from March to the end of June. The average annual rainfall is 775.6 mm.

The places of attractions are Gurdwara Keshgarh Sahib, Manakpur Sharif, Gurdwara Parivar Vichhora, Mata Jainti Devi Temple, Gurdwara Bhatha Sahib, and Jateshwar Mahadev Temple. Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, one of the biggest in India, is located at Mohali.
