Gurdwara Baoli Sahib

Gurdwara Baoli Sahib lies at Goindwal, about 30 km south-east of Amritsar. Main attraction is a Baoli (well) constructed under the guidance of Guru Amar Das. The entrance to the Baoli has been artistically decorated. With 84 descending steps, this Baoli attracts a large number of Sikhs and Hindus. It is believed that one can escape from the travail of wandering through lakhs of births and rebirths by performing Japji on every step of the well. A row of frescoes, featuring scenes from Sikh history, is worth seeing. Adjoining the Baoli, a magnificent Gurudwara has been built. The community kitchen of Guru Amar Das named 'Langar' is another attraction. It has been recorded by a Sikh historian that Emperor Akbar also took meal in the Langar, before meeting the Guru.

Amritsar International Airport is the nearest airport.
