Moga




The administrative headquarters of Moga District, Moga is an old town situated along the Firozpur-Ludhiana road, in Punjab. It was conferred the status of headquarters in November 1995, after the formation of Moga District from the erstwhile Faridkot District. Moga is 50 km west of Ludhiana.

Moga is famous for its memorials of freedom fighters of India. The city was the birthplace of Lala Lajpat Rai, one of the prominent figures of Indian freedom movement.

Places of tourist interest in and around the town include Gurdwara Nanaksar, Gurdwara Mehtiana, Gurdwara Ishardham and Kotkpura. The beautiful Jain temple of Shwetambar at the nearby town Zira is worth a visit.

Nearest airport is at Amritsar (103 km). Moga Railway Station is on the Ludhiana-Firozpur line and has direct train links to New Delhi, Chandigarh and Amritsar.
