Batala




Batala is an important industrial town situated on National Highway 15 in Gurdaspur District in Punjab. It is famous for the manufacture of machine tools and woolen products.

Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikh religion, was married here to Bihi Sulakhni, the daughter of Mul Chand Chauna. Many temples and Gurdwaras related with the marriage of the guru attract devotees from far and near. Every year a gala celebration is conducted on the anniversary of Guru Nanak's marriage.

Batala Junction Railway Station is on the Amritsar - Pathankot railway line. Amritsar International Airport is the nearest airport.
