Durgiana Temple




Durgiana temple is one among the main temples in Amritsar, situated outside the Lohgarh Gate. This 16th century temple is built after the design of the Golden Temple. The presiding deity is Goddess Durga.

Durgiana Temple is a well-known repository of Hindu scriptures. The temple has a golden dome on the top. The interior of the temple is exquisitely garnished with images of the Mother Goddess in her various forms. Most of the images are done in mosaics made from pieces of colored tile. The temple also boasts various images of other deities including Lord Krishna and Narasimha.
