Pondicherry. The district is home to 0.7 million people. The main rivers running through the district are Gingee and Pennaiyar. The main crops cultivated in Pondicherry are rice, sugarcane, coconut and millets. Chennai. Pondicherry is well connected by road and rail. A narrow gauge rail track connects Pondicherry to
Viluppuram in
Tamil Nadu. The best season to visit is from October to March.
